2. Where
can I go on my meeting cruise?
It depends on how long a cruise you choose
. On a full day charter returning to the departure/pick-up site, we can about
25 miles. That would cover a tour of the Miami waterfront and a good part of Biscayne
Bay.
For a ½ day charter, we can go about 10 miles - say, from downtown
Miami to Coconut Grove - and return to our departure/drop-off point.
3.
Why can I only take 12 guests? What if I need more meeting space?
The
U.S. Coast Guard regulates the number of passengers we can accommodate. In our
case, as an uninspected passenger vessel, we're limited to 12 guests.
If
you need a larger yacht, we have access to several other, larger vessels. Please
advise us regarding the number of attendees at your event and we'll match you
with an appropriate alternate yacht.
4. What safety equipment do you
have onboard?
Our yacht's safety features and equipment are designed to
protect our guests while you're on board. All of our safety equipment is either
U.S. Coast Guard "approved" or "certified" and many of our
safety items meet international commercial standards for safety, including SOLAS-certification
(Safety Of Life At Sea).
Examples of our safety features and equipment include:
Waist-high side passageways and stainless-steel hand railings to the foredeck
(bow)
- Comfortable flotation vests for all guests
(wearing is not mandatory
unless instructed by the crew)
- Safety briefing for all guests prior to
dock departure
- State-of-the-art marine VHF radio with Digital Selective
Calling (DSC), a feature that automates the sending of a "Mayday" call
to the Coast Guard and other nearby vessels
- Electronic charts and highly-accurate
GPS system for pinpoint navigation
- Automated halon fire extinguisher system
in the engine room, plus six other handheld extinguisher units placed strategically
throughout the yacht
- Smoke and CO2 detectors in all interior compartments
- Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) w/internal GPS
- Multiple
life-rings for use in overboard situations
- Regular crew drills for practicing
reactions to onboard emergencies
5. What if a guest gets sea-sick?
It's best to try to avoid motion sickness before it sets in. We have several options
and suggestions available: we have acupressure wrist bands that are helpful to
some people; we have a supply of ginger tablets, ginger cookies and ginger ale
available (ginger is a natural solution that can help to avoid or relieve motion
sickness; we have an electronic wrist-watch like device that many people like;
or, we can suggest the use of a pharmaceutical solution such as Dramamine, if
you prefer (note: we do NOT provide any pharmaceutical products; if you prefer
such products please secure your own.)
6. Can you describe a typical
meeting cruise?
There are many different types of meetings you can hold
on board M/Y "Dolce Vita":

A typical meeting cruise would be either a full-day
or ½ day event, with a meal and/or snacks/refreshments. A portion of the
cruise would be devoted to the meeting agenda/presentation(s), while the balance
of the time is usually spent socializing, networking and enjoying the waterways
of our cruising grounds.
Our professional-level presentation and audio/visual
systems are all available to you for your meeting. They include:
- 32"
HD monitor/television display " Theatre-style surround sound system

HD videoconferencing system " Black-out window covers for presentations
- Satellite radio (entertainment)
7. Do I need to wear a life jacket
while I'm onboard?
It's not mandatory that our guests wear a personal
flotation jacket/vest in calm weather. However, you're always welcome to wear
yours at any time you feel it's appropriate; you'll see that our professional
crew wears their personal flotation at all times when we're underway. In the event
that unstable conditions or an emergency occur, our professional crew may require
all guests to properly wear personal flotation.
8. What about catering
and beverage service?
MEETINGS AFLOAT! is happy to provide you with referrals
to our preferred caterers. We have a broad selection of vendors who can provide
almost any type of cuisine you might want. You pick the menu items, they'll prepare
and deliver it. They can also provide servers and bartenders for your cruise,
if you desire.
Sodas and water are provided, complimentary, as part of your
charter. If you desire any alcoholic beverages, you must provide them yourself,
as MEETINGS AFLOAT! and M/Y "Dolce Vita" do not have a license to serve
or resell any alcoholic beverages.
We have an onboard refrigerator, ice
maker and several insulated coolers available for your use. You're welcome to
bring your own coolers too, within space limitations.
9. What if it rains
for our meeting cruise?
M/Y "Dolce Vita" is well-equipped to
handle inclement weather: our spacious saloon/galley area can accommodate all
of your guests comfortably; our rear cockpit and our 2nd deck flybridge have weather
enclosures that allow you to use those spaces regardless of the weather. Thus,
if the weather turns foul during your meeting cruise, we'll continue the cruise,
unless, in the judgment of the captain, conditions cause safety concerns.
